History of Meci

Energy, Light and innovation since 1979

The city of two seas is the distinguished backdrop where it all began.

The first MECI store opened in 1979 in Sestri Levante from the vision of Gian Paolo Scartabelli and his wife, Marina. They wanted to create a shop dedicated to selling electrical supplies. Over the years, the business grew from a small 70-square-meter warehouse, relocating in 1994 to its current location on Via Antica Romana Orientale.

A true story

MECI was the brainchild of Gian Paolo’s passion for the world of light. His journey began as a teenager, marked by hard work and sacrifice. It started with installing early electrical systems and gaining expertise in the field, allowing him to build a solid reputation as a trusted professional.

Today, Ugo and Gemma, Gian Paolo’s children, run the company and continue to embody the core values established by Gian Paolo: an unwavering commitment to customer service, a focus on the human element, attention to detail, kindness, efficiency, punctuality, and specialized training to invigorate the business. Gian Paolo’s dedication to ongoing education and his drive to stay updated with the latest industry innovations have been fundamental in keeping the company ahead of the curve.

I spent my evenings surrounded by resistors, potentiometers, capacitors, coils, relays, diodes, switches, selectors, buttons, and commutators, practicing with determination and consistency.

The Future is Bright

In twenty years, MECI envisions a vibrant and shining future. The business will be centered around internal optimization, employee well-being, waste reduction, environmental respect, and fostering genuine connections with stakeholders.

The future goals are clear: to continue being a leading Ligurian company while constantly improving without losing sight of the values that have brought MECI to where it is today.
